Three major strong points of Central Finland
Central Finland boasts three major strong points of economic life. It has extensive expertise, world-class businesses and top-level education in the field of new generation machines and equipment, bioenergy and housing and construction.
These areas of success for Central Finland are developed in business clusters known as New Generation Machines and Equipment, Dynamic Bioenergy and Developing Housing. In Finland, these clusters are significant employers and bring in significant export revenue. The revenue of companies from Central Finland which operate in these sectors stands at €7800M and the number of employees runs to 37,800.
The Central Finland business clusters bring together groups of companies and operators with mutual clients and development objectives. This has made it possible to have multilateral business cooperation that has provided new kinds of business operations and expertise to the province. Development initiatives and public development funds have been systematically targeted to the needs of cluster companies.
Operations are company based in the business clusters of Central Finland. Companies hold a significant role in the cluster operations, because companies form the strategy groups which define policies. Strategy groups prioritise and prepare development themes of their own sector into projects which are eligible for funding.
How can you recognise the companies within the business cluster?
The companies have common customers and development objectives. Through cooperation, the companies have achieved advantages for themselves and their networks.
Business development companies, R&D, educational and expert organisations as well as financiers cooperate with the cluster companies at a regional level.
