International activities

The Regional Council of Central Finland supports projects in development corporations, businesses, educational institutions, municipalities and other bodies with a desire to globalize and market the region on the international level under the HumanTechnology brand.

An excellent example of internationalization is expansion of the export of education to new markets. The results of persistent work in the Regional Council of Central Finland manifested the EduCluster Finland (ECF) business network and limited company, the shareholders of which are the University of Jyväskylä, Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences and the Jyväskylä Joint Municipal Authority for Education.

Central Finland and four other regions in West Finland form the West Finland Alliance (WFA), which works in collaboration with the European Union. Together the regions influence national regional policy and especially the EU’s regional and structural policy. Membership in the Assembly of European Regions (AER) and the European Federation of Regional Energy and Environment Agencies (FEDARENE) provides a direct channel for influencing in Europe.

Within the Midnordic Committee, Finland, Sweden and Norway’s seven regions promote innovative and businessfriendly environments, traffic connections, culture and adventure travel as well as environmental technology and the use of renewable energy.

The Regional Council of Central Finland also has long-term partners in Estonia, Poland and Russia.
